Cookie's Happy Tail

Katrina Haynes did volunteer work at Enid SPCA in early 2009. While she was there, some kittens were brought in -one was white. In December 2009, I saw an ad on PEGASYS - showing a white cat. SO, we went to SPCA and it was the same cat - all grown up. She now lives with us -- Joe & Teri Haynes, Katrina, Amelia and Joey Paul -- and 2 dogs and a Quaker Parrot. (We keep the parrot in another room -- completely seperate from the cat). We are enclosing some pictures of the cat. Her original name was Cookie. Sometimes she is called Dutchess and sometimes Petunia.

Miss Nemo's Happy Tail

We adopted Miss Nemo almost a year ago. We decided to keep her name the same since it was simple enough for our two year old to say. Instead of calling her Nemo though, he calls her “Momo” which has now stuck and everyone else calls her that now as well.  This is my youngest son’s first animal and he loves her so so much. She is so laid back and relaxed and fits in with us perfectly. She is so great with my kiddos and has never ever tried to scratch them.  Nemo sleeps with me and my husband every night. She is always waiting for us by the door when we come home.  Nemo now weighs 15 pounds and is doing great. We are so happy that we adopted her and couldn’t imagine our house without her.

Thank you so much S.P.C.A.

Buddy's Happy Tail

Buddy had been living life outdoors on a chain since he liked to "herd" the neighbor's cattle.  He was owner surrendered to the Enid SPCA and I gladly fostered Buddy for several weeks to assess his temperament and trainability.  Buddy's willingness to please makes him a perfect candidate for a therapy dog.  Buddy loves PEOPLE!  All PEOPLE!  He gets along well with other dogs.

He is calm, quiet, stoic; house and crate trained easily and a wonderful, sweet natured corgi.  He has adjusted quickly to being a house dog.  Corgis are not a breed for everyone; as in Buddy's case, his strong herding instinct got him in trouble.  It's very important to teach all dogs and puppies basic manners at an early age and give them a job to do.  Training can relieve boredom, stress and anxiety, as well as improve the animal-human bond.  I have begun teaching Buddy the skills necessary for AKC's Canine Good Citizen award, (sit, down, stay, greet people and dogs, etc.) the first step to becoming a Therapy Dog.  I look forward to a long and loving relationship with my new best friend.

Corgially yours,
Janice Ciarla

Holly's Happy Tail

Hi, we adopted Holly right after we got married, April 17th of last year.  We already had another dog, a corgi, but of course she needed a companion.  My husband picked Holly out and I went to go pick her up one day and immediately We LOVED her!!!!!!!!  She has brought that light into our lives.  Our dogs are our life, Holly is so much fun and is the sweetest most cuddly dog in the world!  Pictured above - Aspen is on the left and Holly is on the right.

Thank you for taking care of her and giving us the opportunity to adopt such a fabulous dog!

Blackie's Happy Tail

Hello!  Blackie is doing great as a country dog.  He gets along great with other dogs and people.  He doesn't like strangers, but that has worked to our advantage.  He is a very sweet, very goofy dog.  Over the last few months we have been working with Blackie teaching him to fetch to get rid of some of the energy.  We have also worked with his not wanting to wear a collar.  He has become very comfortable with wearing a collar now and using a leash.  We have also had him on a dog run while we were mowing "his" yard.  We couldn't imagine our lives without him.  During the summer we gave him a haircut to even him out and to keep him a little cooler.

Sally's Happy Tail

Sally is an inside dog.  She doesn't like the neighbor's dogs at all, so when she goes out to potty we have to put her in a small pin for her to go to the bathroom, but she is so good with Michael.  It is incredible.  When she does get out of the fenced yard, all I have to do is open my car door and she comes right back.  She is afraid she is going to miss out on going somewhere.

Thanks

Roadie's Happy Tail

Ziggy is doing well, his name is Roadie now.  We figured, with the road trip we took to get him, it fit.

He is crate trained, housebroke, knows how to sit and lay down now.  He likes to play with our dog, Dove and loves to jump on the cat, Boston.  He has learned to leave the chickens alone and he is learning to stay away from the horses.  Our horses don't like dogs, because they were attacked by dogs when they were foals.  He is not sure about riding in the tractor yet.

I am sending you a few pictures.  He loves to play with his horse he got at the shelter.  We'll say "Roadie, go get your horse" and he runs right over and grabs it shaking it and squeaking it.  He has a toy tractor and a pull toy also, but I think his horse is his favorite.

Thank you for letting us take him home that day.  We are really lucky to have such a fine dog.

 Smokey's Happy Tail

We adopted (Flash) now Smokey because we had lost two animals last year, 1 dog and 1 cat.  We thought giving a good home to a baby animal that needed us would help us feel better.  It did.  He's a great cat and a good friend to our other cat Marx, who was also grieving the loss of his friends.  He's loving and playful.  His favorite toy is a pin light he loves to chase all around the house with his other friend Maddy, a puppy we got last year.  I'm glad we adopted him; he's a great member of our family.

Thank You

Mitzi's Happy Tail

 Dear SPCA

I am sending you a recent picture of Mitzi.  She changes colors after a haircut.  She usually is more white with dark spots.

When I first got her she followed me around the house no matter where.  When I'm gone she gets one of my snuggy socks and brings it in the living room where she stays.

She wants everyone to pet and play with her.  She loves kids best.  My great granddaughter loves her too.  She gives me hugs by pressing her head in my neck.

I couldn't do without her now.  Thank you so much for helping me adopt her.

Ginger's Happy Tail

When I came into the ESPCA I was unsure of adopting. I had just moved to Enid from Texas and had to put down my friend of 12 years, Sugar. I decided to check out the website because my Mom had told me about a little puppy named Naomi. So, one Saturday I decided to come in and visit little Naomi. I knew when I saw her that she was mine but thought I would wait till the next week and give myself the weekend to make for sure. I told myself that if she was still there on Tuesday that she was meant to be mine. And guess what she has been mine ever since. However, with new beginnings come new names. So, I renamed her Ginger. She has been a wonderful & loving companion for me and she seems to bring joy to all she meets.

Thank you Enid SPCA for providing these animals with a second chance and thank you for making my world a lot better!

Sincerely,

Christie Buckner

Gracie Mae's Happy Tail

This is Gracie writing to you from Coweta, OK which is southeast of where you are located.  I have a very nice backyard and the grass tickles my tummy when I run through it to bark at the other dogs behind and beside our house.  There is this other animal like me in this house and he won't even play with me, it makes me mad at him.  He will sometimes lie down beside me at night when we are in bed.  I feel he is just not sure why I'm here yet.  Remember my Dad said you could write me anytime and he would help me read the letter you send me.  Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Years!!!!!!  Remember I love all you guys at the S.P.C.A. in Enid and all my other furry friends that are also there.  I hope and pray they will also find a new home as wonderful as mine.

Love Always,
Gracie

Galen's Happy Tail

When Benny came home, he became Galen.  With Galen's laid back personality, it didn't take him more than a couple of hours to adjust to his new surroundings.  The two and a half month old kitten, Vanya, that I had here already didn't appreciate Galen's presence, but he was patient with her.  He remained subdued until she was ready to start playing.  That always turned out interesting, since Galen is almost 15lbs and Vanya is closer to 4lbs!  These two get along fine now, and they especially love sprinting around my living space in the early hours of the morning.  Galen has remained the stable, relaxed cat in the house, able to flow with whatever changes I throw his way.  He's a great addition to my household which wouldn't have happened without you guys!  Thank you!

Rusty's Happy Tail

Buster is now Rusty because Buster and Boomer sounded so close we needed to make it where they could tell who we were talking about.  He is responding well to Rusty.

Just wanted to let you know that Rusty (aka Buster) is working out great!  We had a rough first week with him and our other dog, but now they are getting along great.  He loves playing with his new canine brother and just loves his 2 human brothers.  He likes to play ball and run around the yard with them.  We did find out that if you open the gate he will take off, so we are working on that.  He is good at baths and mom gave him his first haircut and he was a good boy he stood very still.  He uses the doggie door and knows he is to potty outside.  He has also figured out what the treat jar has in it.  We have just fallen in love with him and thought we would share a picture with you after we had our haircut and bath.

Thanks so much!

Kinley's Happy Tail

Just wanted to let you know that Kinley is settling in incredibly well in our household!!  She has realized that we have a great yard to run around in, and when she’s ready to come back inside she comes to the back door and someone lets her in (if we aren’t already outside with her).  She’s been playing with Dotti (the dachshund) and Mack (the black lab/chow/shiba inu mix) and they all had a great weekend running around the house, then crashing on the living room floor together!  My daughter has taken Kinley running both Saturday and Sunday evenings, and she LOVES it!!  She doesn’t like to walk on a leash very well (always trying to RUN) so we’re putting her in beginning obedience classes beginning in October.  She’s such a smart dog that she’ll probably end up at the top of her class!  J  My daughter is excited because she FINALLY has someone to run with every night!!

She’s just an incredibly lovable dog and has enjoyed licking the faces of all the family that’s come over to welcome her into the household!  I realize that I’ve used a lot of exclamation points in this email, but she’s such an amazing dog that we’re very excited to have her in our family.  I’ve attached a picture of the three of them from Saturday night…just hanging out in the living room.

Thank you SO MUCH for allowing us to take Kinley into our family!
